I deem it my honoured opportunity to scribble out few lines in the platform of St. Xavier's School. We strive towards moulding young minds by strengthening the students socially, morally, emotionally and intellectually, so that we can present them as men or women of principles. The Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi remarked, "Real Education consists in drawing the best out of yourself. What better book can there be than the book of humanity." The St. Xavier’s family is accelerating with the noble ideas and approaches forming the young and energetic minds for the nation. We help each student to develop a positive outlook towards oneself and others, which is crucial for building self-esteem in students. There are some strategies to encourage a positive mind-set and to boost self-esteem. Dear students, you must accept yourself as you are focusing on your strength, talents, and unique qualities. You must view challenges and setbacks in life as opportunities for your growth and learning. Consider, the failures are the natural part of the learning process. A step backward may push you two steps or more steps ahead. We must promote self-care which emphasizes the importance of taking care of oneself mentally, physically and emotionally. You must challenge your negative self-talk and replace it with positive affirmations. You have to set realistic goals that align with your interests and abilities.
Rememnber that building self-esteem is an ongoing process, andit takes time and constant effort. Khaleel Jibran rightly commended, "You are your forerunner and the towers you have built are but the foundation of your giant-self. And that self too shall be foundation." Develop a positive outlook towards yourselves, your parents, your teachers and whomever you meet every day.
